Lots of Hiking

Thanks again to LBJ for his birthday and the State of Texas holiday calendar, I had a long weekend of practice hikes.  Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, I hiked the Ladybird Johnson Hike and Bike trail in excess heat with a full backpack, that now includes my 8 pound medicine ball.  I went for a big 5 hour hike Sunday at Pedernales Falls State Park, in a new section of the park.  I did some rock scrambles, and got my boots wet on purpose to see how my Darn Tough socks would react to being wet for my last 5 miles.  Love my Darn Toughs, not a blister in sight.  Merino Wool rocks.

Only 102?

August 10, 2015   I took off to Pedernalis Falls State Park this morning for a little tuneup training. Did a 4 and a half hour hike, And the temperature was only 102°, went through 2 L of water and a peanut butter cliff bar and felt good. More to come.

My Adventure!

Hello Web, my name is Scott.  I am a husband, father, Aggie (class of ’88) and native Texan.  As I approach my 50th birthday, I am getting ready for a 300+ mile section hike on the southern section of the Appalachian Trail, from Erwin, Tennessee to Springer Mountain, Georgia.  I’ll be on the trail from October 1, 2015 to October 31, 2015.  Check back for info on my practice hikes and gear.  Whoop!
